Usually, it is recommended that a person get a facial once a month, or every 4-6 weeks. To explain, it take around 28-34 days for the skin cells to renew, causing the older cells to die away. Facials encourage the oxygen in the blood to enter new cells and make for a smoother and clearer complexion. This is aided by the skins heightened ability to hold water. Just like drinking water to hydrate our insides, facials help to hydrate the skin on our face and neck. They are a great and relaxing way to have a deep and thorough cleansing, down deeply in the pores. This eliminates all bacteria and impurities.
If, however, you have severe skin conditions, it might be recommended to you to have treatments more often. Ask a professional if you are unsure about the true state of your skin.
Ways to help prolong the effects of a facial, include having a working skincare routine and implementing this day and night. Using a cleanser that is specially formulated for your skin type, and exfoliator that isn't harsh on your skin, and good sunscreen when out and about. Remember, the main causes of ageing skin are sun damage, natural ageing, facial expressions and lack of hydration and moisture.
Having combination skin, means that it isn't really a good idea to wear both a moisturiser and a separate sunscreen. Try a moisturiser with a built-in sunscreen and remember, SPF 30+ is the benchmark here. You want a high factor in your sunscreen that block both UVA and UVB rays. It's also good to keep in mind, that you can still suffer sun damage on a cloudy day.
Products with Vitamin A and Vitamin C are good to have in skin care products, as they help with the fighting against environmental nasties that can get onto your skin, they are also antioxidants for this reason. Vitamin C is aides collagen development in the skin which helps with softness and clarity. Vitamin A helps with hydration which maintains the elasticity of the skin.
Combination skin can be a pain to treat, because you are really dealing with two skin types. You have the oilier t-zone like your forehead, nose, chin, plus the normal other areas like your cheeks. To use a product to dry out your t-zone, means stripping any natural oil from areas which don't need this, which can lead to an overdrying of this area. Conversely, treating the normal areas, means that the t-zone is still oily and causes breakouts.
A balance when treating combination skin is key. Not using harsh products and severely drying your oily areas, will only lead to more oil and pained, reddened skin.
The first link i sent you is from an Aussie website (i'm an Aussie) and it a perfect site because it tells you how to treat the different areas of your skin, one type at a time.
The second link is to do with natural products, as they can be much better on your skin, rather than the ones on the market.
For most people, it is important to use non-comedogenic products, as they help with limiting sebum (oil) build up and kepps blackhead, and blemishes away. Oily skin also requires an oil-free moisturiser which have a thinner consistency, but again, you might not even need a moisturiser. Bare in mind though, non-comedogenic products can revert to the opposite effect, when exercising or exerting the body in a big way.
Just because people always speak abut the cleanse, tone, moisturise routine, does not mean that this suits everyone.
For oily skin, liquid cleansers are not the first ones to go to, cleansing soaps can have better results. Brands that have found supporters include the Neutrogena and Dove soap bars. While Cetaphillotion and other antibacterial cleansers are great also at treating lemished and acne prone skin.
When buying foundations for example, salicyclic acid is a great ingredient (in cleansers and moisturisers as well), as it helps with the drying of oil in the skin. A good option is also to skip the foundation and go for a lighter coverage. Tinted moisturisers are oil-free with a built-in sun protection and don't clog up the pores like heavy foundations do. Though, if you want a heavier coverage, go for a matte foundation as these are designed to blot up any excess oil, leaving your makeup in place.
Gel sunscreens are best for oily typs of skin and are fine on normal skin types.
Don't worry, with monhly facials (if you can afford them) and a great skin care routine, your skin issues can be easily dealt with. Along with the outside, it is important to deal with the inside also, as it has a direct link to your skin's appearance. Drinking enough water not only hydrates your skin, but also flushes out all toxins leaving you looking more healthier looking and feeling. Eating a healthy balance diet also helps, and not worry about the occasional guilty pleasure. Everything in moderation is the key.
Make sure you wash your makeup at night before bed and try not to touch your face with your hands andfingers. If you thin of all the things we touch each day, the amount of bacteria or dirty surfaces will end up on your skin and react accordingly.
A light cotton pillowcase is also a good idea as it breathes and doesn't attract a build up of dust, mites and other nasties.
Good luck and don't worry. Remember, a dermatologist or facialist are good people to see if you have any questions, they can also monitor your skin over a period of time to see any changes. Is it ok to have facial every week? I have a combination type of skin?
having a facial every week is not good. You migth irriate your skin which would end up making it worse. I would stick to every 15 days the most. but once a month is ideal.
well i have some acne, and i use a face scrub every night. very gently though, after washing off makeup.its mostly intended for the acne, and does a very good job.2%sasylic acid. and i use a face clay mask every 4 days. and my skin really glows. it should be ok . unless its like a proffesional facial, and u get you rface steamed, and stuff like that...oh. use a non- comodemic moisterizer, something that wont clog pores, and isnt greasy to the touch=)
as in facial mask..yes..but only once a week..and make sure the mask is non-cosmogenic and oil free
