Toothpaste is good to get rid of the redness of the spots, as is aspirin.

To get rid of the actual spot the aniseptic cream will work better.

Look for products will salic acid in, or natural fruit acids, these exfoliate with out scrubbing and remove the nasties that cause spots.

Or make a face mask from fruits high in vit C, as they contain more natural acids - ie lemons, kiwi etc :]

hope this helps

Toothpaste can dry it out, but also aggravate (the mint). Antiseptic can be good, but why not use a proven one like benzoyl peroxide (in most acne medications). Aspirin just soothes the redness - it's better as a supplement to bp. Oatmeal/honey/sugar: oatmeal soothes itchiness, honey makes a mess and maybe moisturizes, sugar is a fine exfoliant, but baking soda mixed with your mild soap is gentler and chemical exfoliants (BHA) have a better effect on acne.

If you must use household products instead of specialty products, try a Milk of Magnesia (plain, not mint) facial. It soothes, disinfects and pulls oil toward the surface (can be a bit drying).
aspirin is the most effective, its salicylic acid which is a known spot fighting ingredient. it works as an anti-inflammatory and kills bacteria.

good luck :D
